1. What time scale does the course follow?
We recommend 1 week between each session however students are allowed to determine the best time scale for themselves. The structure of the course and the dates for each live session and video feedback are agreed before the course commences and are set out clearly in an email for the student.
2. When do the courses start?
The course can start whenever is most suitable for the student. All courses are run on a one to one basis and we agree on a suitable time in the week for the live chat session and the best day for you projects to be submitted for feedback. The course is designed, where possible, to fit entirely around the students schedule and preferred learning pace.
3. What happens if I already know a lot of the course content? I don’t want to waste my time and money.
Before we take on any student we discuss both their level of experience and their goals and aims for sitting the course. Based on this we can advise on the most suitable package and talk through the material and content the student will study. Both the Focus and Consultant packages allow students to hand pick the material they would like to study. We have made every effort to ensure our courses are as flexible as possible and avoid the pitfalls of many of the other online courses.
4. How do I communicate with the tutor?
This varies from student to student. Real time, live sessions using Skype, MSN and Crossloop are arranged in advance but if this is not practical, for example time zone differences, then a combination of additional email and videos sessions are provided. To date we have not found a situation that hinders us from effectively communicating course material to our students.
5. Is the course taught exclusively in Ableton Live?
Yes, Ableton Live provides an excellent platform to quickly and clearly explain the concepts of EDM production. For music production, Live is very closely matched to other DAW’s and with the Tutor’s background covering Reason, Cubase and Sonar he will be able to easily relate Live to any other DAW you may be using. That said, Live has many unique features and intuitive processes to discover and we also have a large number of 3rd party instruments and effects in the studio should students wish to receive additional guidance on these.
6. When and how do I pay for the course?
We request students pay for the course in full before the first session. We are currently accepting payment via PayPal and credit card.
